Although working around the clock on the “Ventilator Challenge”, we’d still noticed the struggle of NHS workers at Chessington take COVID samples.  It then clicked.  As we’d taken UK sole distributorship of the Hanwha cobot just weeks before lockdown, we had both the means and the know-how to make this a reality.

While developing a prototype, we collected together video and also produced a conceptual video, showing exactly how the cobot would go about this task and how it would keep itself thoroughly sterilised after each sample taken.

A cobot is a collaborative robot, a friendly robot in other words; as it’s able to detect a human presence and stop before a collision occurs.  It performs repetitive tasks or tasks in dangerous or exposed environments to perfection, sitting easily across all manufacturing industry and now able to lend a hand at testing facilities.
